Bears Curb Warhawks, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Colorado Bears and the Illinois Warhawks, pitcher Rich Kelly was the difference between victory and defeat. The Colorado left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Bears win. Jason Stoehr was credited with the save for Colorado, his 34th of the season. The Bears saw their record improve to 69-79.
Colorado won the game in part because of Bob Nava. The designated hitter ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bears ahead, 2-1. For the game, Nava had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Colorado manager Matthew Streeter.
