Railroaders Pop Bridegrooms, 9-3
|
The Pennsylvania Railroaders racked up a win at PNC Park, bumping off the Maryland Bridegrooms, 9-3. Andy Hicks, who started for Pennsylvania, pitched effectively for his team. In 7 innings, Hicks surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. The third-place Railroaders improved to 83-75.
Andy Johnstone had a big 2-run home run for the Railroaders in the bottom of the first inning. With Pennsylvania leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Mitsuru Ogawa and swatted a home run to left. It was his 22nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Railroaders ahead, 3-0.
"Andy had himself a pretty good evening," said Pennsylvania manager Mike Kritikos.
