The New York Empire beat the Pennsylvania Railroaders by a score of 5-4. New York center fielder Miguel Valerio deserved the lion's share of the credit. Valerio went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Empire. New York reliever Matt Jordan picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. António Martínez was tagged with the loss. The 4th-place Empire sport a record of 78-81.

It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Michael Joy, the slick-fielding second baseman . Joy contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put New York up, 5-4.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Richard Hager, the New York skipper. "This one tested us."
