Vipers End Byrd's Streak Wednesday, June 29th , 2067 The Illinois Warhawks lost to the Arizona Vipers 5-3 today at The Snake Pit, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Dan Byrd's 21-game hitting streak. The catcher went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Byrd, we would win the game," Vipers manager Alex Cumana explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." Byrd is hitting .274 so far this season with 16 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 66 hits including 3 home runs, 24 walks and .343 OBP. |
