Big 3-HR Day for Guzman Wednesday, May 15th , 2069 Ontario Blue Pirates first baseman Jose Guzman almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 4 runs and had 3 hits in 4 at-bats. The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Blue Pirates to victory. The New Mexico Danger escaped with the win, 8-5, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Guzman. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game. Jose Guzman hit a two-run home run off Phil Adams in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Phil Adams in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Phil Adams in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. "When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Ontario manager Shaun Young. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the Patriot League. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good American Federation Baseball League hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it." This year, Guzman has batted at a .348 pace with 47 hits, 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 24 times. |
