Payne Stretches Hit String to 30 Wednesday, August 21st , 2047 The Illinois Warhawks stopped the Texas Isotopes today 8-7 and Chris Payne collected a base hit yet again. The Illinois left fielder finished with 2 hits to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 30. "I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Payne told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games." Chris Payne hit a solo-shot off Frédérick Martineau in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 7th. Thus far this season Payne is hitting .378 with 31 home runs, 71 RBIs and 98 runs scored. He has 188 hits in 498 at-bats and has played in 122 games. |
