Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl Thursday, September 30th , 2049 Yesterday at Johnson & Johnson Field Jesús Hernández and Phil Dunham got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the New Jersey Athletics and New Mexico Danger. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Hernández will have to sit out 4 while Dunham would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. This season Hernández has hit at a .229 clip and produced 25 RBI, 4 home runs and 39 runs. For this year Dunham has chalked up 9 wins and 11 losses in 30 starts with 127 strikeouts in 156 innings and a 5.71 ERA. |
