Veteran Hatfield Hits Three Dingers Friday, July 1st , 2050 Sometimes it just isn't enough. Pat Hatfield had an outstanding day at Farmers Market Stadium for the New Jersey Athletics today, ripping three home runs. Nonetheless, the Athletics fell to the Ontario Blue Pirates, 9-4. Hatfield had a feast at the plate, pounding everything thrown his way. The 35-year-old first baseman banged out 3 hits in 3 at-bats, scored 3 times and batted in 3 runs. Despite his sensational performance, the Athletics were not able to hold off the Blue Pirates. "Baseball is a funny game," Hatfield said in the post-game interview, "You can't dwell on the reasons for the loss. I'm sure there will be days when I go 0-for-4 and we win. These things tend to even out." Pat Hatfield hit a solo-shot off Cristo Mota in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Cristo Mota in the 4th, walked in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Jorge RamÃrez in the 8th. This year Hatfield is hitting .254 with 15 home runs and 32 RBIs in 56 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .396 with 39 walks and 30 runs scored. |
