Mercier Goes Cycling Wednesday, August 7th , 2069 Ned Mercier truly did it all at Venom Field. The Flagstaff Venom right fielder hit for the cycle -- collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- as he paced his club to victory, 20-15, over the Vancouver Trappers. "You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Mercier said later. "It was a heck of a feeling." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Vancouver pitching for 4 hits in 6 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Mercier also racked up 5 runs batted in and 4 runs scored in the game. Ned Mercier singled in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Alec Gettingby in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and struck out in the 8th.
