Turda and Rumsey Fight, Get Suspended Saturday, August 17th , 2069 Yesterday at Venom Field Viorel Turda and Brooks Rumsey got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Flagstaff Venom and Trenton Owls. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Turda will have to sit out 3 while Rumsey would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. In 58 games this year, Turda has posted a .297 average and put up these numbers: 6 home runs, 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Over the season, Rumsey has made 36 relief appearances with 2 saves. He has K'd 47 batters in 45.2 innings, yielded 56 walks and has a 5.32 ERA. Rumsey's record this year is 3-4. |
