Payne Bangs 3 HR Against St. Cloud Friday, July 24th , 2065 John Payne went on an explosive hitting spree against the St. Cloud Water Wolves at Hoboken Ballpark today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Hoboken Falcons to the 19-2 win. The right fielder finished 3-for-4 with 4 runs scored and 7 runs batted in. "It was just one of those days," Payne said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." St. Cloud skipper said Payne was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." John Payne grounded out in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Shigem Maekawa in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Allen Sullivan in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th. So far this season Payne is batting .234 with 20 home runs, 68 RBIs and 62 runs scored. He has 83 hits in 354 at-bats, 47 walks and a .340 OBP. Payne has played in 93 games. |
