College Wildcard Series Goes the Distance, Anchorage College Prevails
Saturday, April 28th , 2068
The joy and relief on the faces of the Anchorage College Caribous players was obvious as they celebrated their College Wildcard Series win over the O'Hara Township College All-Stars.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Anchorage College first baseman Stanley Sams, shortly after the 10-4 win that clinched the series 3-2. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the College League Championship Series.
Sams won series MVP honors on the strength of his .333 batting average during the series. He also had a .417 on-base percentage and 0 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Anchorage College Caribous don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Omaha College Canaries - Rochester College Swans series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The College League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the College Wildcard Series finishes.
