Gardner and Burke Fight, Get Suspended Friday, April 19th , 2069 After an intense confrontation, both the Seahawks Josh Gardner and the Monsoon Ryan Burke were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Long Beach College-San Luis Obispo College game. Josh Gardner will miss 4 games, while Ryan Burke was suspended for 2 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Josh Gardner commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." For the season, Gardner is hitting .272, batted in 50 runs with 19 home runs and 38 runs scored. This season, Burke has chalked up no saves, notched a 0-1 record with a 8.27 ERA, allowed 41 hits in his 37 innings of work, struck out 41 and walked 36. Opponents are hitting .277 against the San Luis Obispo College hurler. |
