Players Suspended in Ravens-Jackrabbits Donnybrook Sunday, June 3rd , 2068 Yesterday at Ravens Stadium Fernando Ortiz and César Candelária got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Mississippi Ravens and South Carolina Jackrabbits. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Ortiz will have to sit out 3 while Candelária would be given a 7-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Currently Ortiz is batting .330 with 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and 32 runs scored. Thus far this season, Candelária has tossed 46 innings in 7 starts, fanned 40 batters, walked 17 and put up a 4.50 ERA with 4 wins and 2 losses. |
