Mississippi's Mendoza Takes 2068 Most Valuable Player Award

Albert Mendoza said he wanted to put all rumors that he was over the hill and couldn't compete at a high level anymore to rest. Mission accomplished.

At the age of 35, the Mississippi Ravens star was at the top of his game all season long and has won the 2068 East Most Valuable Player Award.

The veteran captured the award with a .335 batting average and a .382 on-base percentage this year. In 119 games he piled up 156 hits, 32 doubles, no triples, 19 home runs, 73 RBIs and 72 runs scored.

He received 20 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Fernando Ortiz of the Mississippi Ravens finished second in voting, while Ademar Carrego of the Wisconsin Berserkers finished third.
