Gomez Batters Sunrise for 5 Hits Saturday, June 29th , 2069 Jose Gomez was at the head of a Sanford Swamp Things hit parade at The Swamp. The 21-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Sunrise Gators that marched off with the 13-12 win. "We didn't have it today," griped Swamp Things skipper following the game. "Jose did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Gomez did more than fine, dominating the Gators at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging second baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Jose Gomez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Matt Kozikowski in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
