Esty on a Tear, Hits for Cycle
Wednesday, August 28th , 2069
It is rare for players to collect a single, double, triple and home run in one game, so it's a special moment when it happens.
Nick Esty savored such a moment, going 5-for-5 and hitting for the cycle against the Tallahassee Bandits. Unfortunately for Esty, that was all he could savor, as his Sanford Swamp Things lost the contest by a score of 9-6.
After the game, the right fielder was in no mood to talk about the hitting feat, calling it "pointless trivia."
"Nobody cares if I went 0-for-5 or 1-for-5 or 5-for-5," Esty said. "9-6. That's the only line anyone around here cares about today."
Nick Esty hit a solo-shot off Dave Peirano in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
So far this year in 115 games, Esty is hitting .319 with 25 home runs, 81 RBIs and 116 runs scored.
