Ward Socks It to Swamp Things, Cracks 5 Hits
Wednesday, September 11th , 2069
Miami center fielder Kevin Ward had a fantastic day at the plate at Miami Grounds, knocking out 5 hits and pacing his club to a win, 20-5.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Ward said after his 5-for-6 performance against the Swamp Things. "No offense meant to Sanford, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid park, it was Miami Grounds."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the center fielder's improvements, saying Ward spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Ward said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Kevin Ward hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Konrad Reinink in the 7th.
So far this season, Ward has gotten 148 hits in 448 at-bats for a .330 batting average with 25 home runs. His stats include 133 RBIs and 118 runs scored. He has played in 116 games.
