Oklahoma City Takes League Championship Series in Deciding Game
Explorer League pundits who figured the League Championship Series between the Oklahoma City Whirlwind and Houston Stampede would go the distance were right on the mark.

The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with Oklahoma City coming out on top thanks to a 9-4 win in the deciding game at Stampede Park, to wrap things up 4-3.

"You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Whirlwind right fielder John Roberts, who was named series MVP.

For the series, Roberts had 9 hits for a .333 average. He had 2 home runs, 8 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Oklahoma City Whirlwind will play against the Brooklyn Dodgers in the next round. Brooklyn won their series against the Atlanta Peaches 4 games to 2. The Explorer Cup schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
