Vipers, Outlaws Play 16 to Settle Game 1, Arizona Now Leads Series 1-0
|
When the games really matter, the Arizona Vipers put on their best show, beating the Texas Outlaws by a final score of 3-2 today. Jason Eckman came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters. Arizona now leads Texas 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 16th inning, when Arizona third baseman Norm Laurent, facing Juan Hernández, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Vipers the 3-2 win.
Laurent said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Snake Pit in Phoenix.
