Avalanche Snap Barbier's Streak at 23 Friday, June 12th , 2065 Gérard Barbier's 23-game hitting streak was snapped today at Crawfords Field. The 29-year-old Pittsburgh Crawfords left fielder failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats in the game against the Colorado Springs Avalanche, but Pittsburgh came out the winner, 5-4. "I don't think the streak was ever a big deal to Gérard," Crawfords manager said after the game. "He ain't that type of guy. He just wants to help the team win ballgames." This year Barbier is hitting .387, produced 19 RBIs and 7 home runs, scored 36 times and gotten on base at a .440 rate. |
