Kentucky Lions 2054 Position Player Preview

The 2053 season saw career-low production and the dismantling of a once consistent competitor. After ending a 14 year playoff run, the Lions have missed the playoffs twice as they re-tool for a new era. Personalities clashed in the clubhouse as the team sold off its parts to try to rebuild a winning culture and look towards a reset in 2054. Gone are the familiar faces of Gil Smith, Roger Peck, Johnny Riley, and Dave Cross. In their places will be a mixture of new and old. Some holdovers from the last core, as well as a fresh generation of Read More

New Mexico hoping to break home run record

With eight weeks left in the 2052 season the Danger are on track to break the single season home run record of 278 set by the Danger in 2020. In 114 games NM has hit 204 home runs, a pace which will result in just under 290 if it holds up. The power surge has been led by catcher Ismael Cordero with 35, shortstop Cisco Martinez with 30, third baseman Sam Raith with 25, designated hitter Orlando Lopez with 24 and rookie left fielder Brad Reid with 23. The remaining 67 home runs have come from 12 other players. Lou Read More

Bouvery’s Hit Streak Reaches 28

Ademar Bouvery has extended his hit streak to a league season high of 28 games. The 27 year old designated hitter is in his fifth big league season. In addition to his hit streak, Bouvery has led the Lions offense with his 20 home runs and 60 runs batted in. It doesn’t look like he’ll match his career high WAR numbers from last season, when he posted a 7.3 value. That’s been the story for Kentucky this year. There has been plenty of regression for Lions across the board. A combination of old age and a strong division has kept Read More

Lions Add Eberle From Texas

Kentucky sent 2 draft picks to the Spurs in return for designated hitter and first baseman Joe Eberle. Eberle is a 23 year old from Boynton Beach, Florida. He was drafted in 2046 by the Spurs out of high school, and has spent the last five seasons in their minor league system. Eberle is known for his foot speed and his ability to avoid the strikeout. He’s got a 7.3% strikeout rate in AAA San Antonio this season. His 163 OPS+ is third in the Explorer league. Texas already has a strong designated hitter in Ed Ingram, so Eberle’s major Read More

Lions Aren’t Supporting Dave Cross in First Half

Dave Cross has had a hard time gaining momentum in his new home. Kentucky has lost 7 consecutive Cross starts, but he hasn’t had much help. The 31 year old righty is tied for the lowest run support per start in the AFBL. The Lions are mustering just two runs on average when he takes the mound. While his strikeout rate has remained consistent, Cross is on pace to give up a career high in home runs and is having his worst year in the last five when it comes to free passes. The Lions will look for him to Read More
